Boulder AreaThe gym features a sculpted Bouldering area of 150m2 in size. Most of the wall looks like real rock. It is in fact a piece of art constructed from reinforced concrete. We also have steep walls meeting up in a cave to give even the strongest climber a great workout. Beneath the Bouldering walls are soft 500mm padded foam mats to give you a comfortable landing surface. What is Bouldering?Bouldering can be considered a separate sport from climbing. It is about performing difficult moves 1-3 meters off the ground (as opposed to climbing which is much higher). Like the name implies, Bouldering is about climbing big rock boulders 2-4 meters off the ground. Ropes are not used, but thick mats should always be beneath the climber and spotters are recommended to help control falls. So who boulders? Some people are completely addicted to Bouldering. Other people boulder in order to work on strength and technique to improve climbing performance. Lots of people spend 15 minutes Bouldering or traversing to warm up before moving to the climbing area. Others just have fun and try different moves while waiting for their climbing /belay partner to show up. Beginner climbers also use the Bouldering area because it can be used by people who have no knowledge of belaying. All you need are shoes! (chalk bag recommended).
